Culture Tube

The Culture Tube with Screw Thread and Teflon Liner provides a reliable leakproof solution for cell culturing, sample incubation, and chemical storage. Manufactured from ASTM E-438 Type-1 Class A, Boro 3.3 glass, this round-bottom culture tube exhibits high resistance to thermal shock and chemical attack. Each tube is equipped with a durable polypropylene (PP) screw cap featuring an integrated Teflon (PTFE) liner, forming a leakproof seal that prevents evaporation, sample loss, and cross-contamination during incubation or transport. Designed for microbiological culture growth, tissue culture, sample storage, and chemical reactions, it performs reliably across biological, clinical, and industrial testing environments. Suitable for biotechnology, pharmaceutical, clinical diagnostics, environmental analysis, and educational research industries. Supplied by Edulabs.

Storage Instructions

  • Store culture tubes in dedicated tube racks, wooden blocks, or original grid packaging to prevent glass-to-glass impact.

  • Keep in a clean, dry, temperature-controlled environment away from direct exposure to corrosive vapors.

  • Store screw caps in a separate container or loosely fitted onto tubes if not in immediate use.

  • Ensure storage areas are free from high ambient vibrations that could lead to glass damage.

  • Stacking unboxed culture tubes loosely should be avoided to prevent chipping or scratching.

  • Keep Teflon liners clean and inspected to maintain proper sealing efficiency prior to use.

Safety Information

  • Inspect culture tubes for cracks, chips, or thread damage before loading samples or autoclaving.

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including laboratory coats, heat-resistant gloves, and safety goggles.

  • Loosen screw caps prior to autoclaving or heating to prevent internal pressure buildup and potential tube rupture.

  • Allow tubes to cool gradually post-autoclaving; do not place hot glass culture tubes directly on cold, wet surfaces.

  • Ensure the PP cap and Teflon liner are chemically compatible with stored reagents before long-term exposure.

  • Handle biological cultures using sterile techniques and dispose of biohazardous culture tubes in designated sharps/autoclave containers.

  • Avoid overtightening screw caps to prevent thread damage or cracking of the polypropylene cap.

The Culture Tube manufactured by Edulabs is a high-performance laboratory container engineered for biological incubation, sample containment, and general laboratory storage. Featuring a round bottom and precision screw thread finish, this tube provides a dependable vessel for microbiological culture media, tissue samples, and chemical reagents.

Constructed from ASTM E-438 Type-1 Class A, Boro 3.3 borosilicate glass, the culture tube offers exceptional chemical resistance against hydrolytic attack, acidic solutions, and neutral reagents. Its heavy-wall design and uniform glass distribution provide mechanical strength and high resistance to thermal shock, making it fully suitable for repeated sterilization cycles in laboratory autoclaves.

Each culture tube comes supplied with a polypropylene (PP) screw cap fitted with an inert Teflon (PTFE) liner. The Teflon liner creates a secure, leakproof seal that protects sensitive samples from contamination, atmospheric moisture, and volatilization. Polypropylene caps provide chemical resistance and ergonomic grip during capping and uncapping operations.

The round-bottom geometry ensures uniform heat distribution during thermal processing and facilitates easy mixing and sediment resuspension during vortexing or centrifugation. Available in a wide selection of outer diameter and height configurations, these culture tubes accommodate diverse working volumes ranging from 5 ml up to 150 ml.

Whether utilized for bacterial growth, cell culture media storage, environmental sample collection, or chemical stability testing, this culture tube delivers consistent performance. Edulabs supplies these culture tubes in bulk pack quantities to meet the operational demands of educational, medical, research, and industrial laboratory facilities.
